Challenge #12

Commit an Act of Kindness (or two or three ♥). Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post about your experience if you feel comfortable doing so.

I made an icon with my limited ability for someone... I have to admit that most of my acts of kindness are toward my hubby.

Challenge #11

In your own space, recommend a fannish or creative resource. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I really like the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki - It has over 20,000 pages about the movies and is a good source for that little tidbit you need to find. It had synopses of the movies and tv shows as well as character profiles with sources listed. Fandom wikis are lots of fun and there is one for almost any fandom you like - take a look at this one.

Challenge #10

In your own space, talk About A Creator/Someone Who Inspired You. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I don't think I even knew that fanfiction was a thing when I started writing it. I certainly had not read other people's work at all. I didn't read other fanfiction until the Tolkien fandom and I honestly don't remember anyone as an 'influence' there either. I tended to be more inspired by writers like Stephen King. When I read Annie Proulx and later Flannery O'Connor, those were my a-ha moments in writing. Those were the creators I wanted to write like.

Theban Band did some art that was influential in that they inspired plot bunnies.

Challenge #9

In your own space, promote at least one canon that you adore (old, new, forever fandom). Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Tolkien! He was the one who made want to go to other worlds, even ones that did not exist. I read The Hobbit at 12 or so then the rest of LOTR later. I was totally entranced by them. They described their world in such loving detail and it was inhabited by such noble creatures that I wanted to go there. I rememebr reading The Silmarillion when it came out in the 70s and not being quite as thrilled, though the bit about creation stuck with me.

I have to admit that I am not nearly as enamored with the Valar and Maiar as most people seem to be. I prefer the elves... the old kings and kingdoms. I love the adventure and nobility in LOTR. I have measured all fantasy since then against Tolkien and so far, all have come up lacking for me.

Challenge #8

Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I am going to rec some really good STONY fics.

if you want a life of adventure by CapnShellhead a wonderful story based on the marvel Noir comics featuring pre-serum Steve and adventurer Tony Stark. It is rated Explicit.

Use Your Words "Verse by SmutLover is a delightfully funny book length series that covers the MCU in a different way, fixing this and that along the way. There is something for all MCU lovers in it. Rated Teen and up.

Reject Your Reality (and Substitute My Own) by dapperanachronism and Robin_tCJ is not what it seems... none of it. It's a wonderful and terrifying story with ALL the tropes.

Also I have one author to rec - anything she writes is fantastic. She does write more than STONY but that is all I've read of her work: only_more_love

Challenge #6

In your own space, make a list — anything between one and ten things is a sweet spot, but don't feel constrained by that! - of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you. Are you dying for podfic of your writing? Do you need icons for a character that doesn't get much fanart? Is there a story you want to read? Are you looking for new canons to get into? Would you like a collaborator for a project?

Maybe you want more people to talk about a certain fandom with, or you'd love to trade ficlets with somebody over email. Maybe you're new to a fandom and would like some recs to start reading, or communities to join. This is the time to ask!

Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

My list of stuffs:
1. For fandom, I'd love to see more interaction and friendship like in the old message board days. I never liked wank or drama and I still don't.

2. For me, some good Babylon 5 icons. I run several groups and such here and on Facebook and would love more icons.

3. For me, podfics. [personal profile] only_more_love did one of my STONY stories and I loved it! My stuff is Here, so if you see anything you'd like to podfic, ask anytime!

4. For me, a beta reader to read over all my stuff... I can be quite prolific and haven't had a beta except for longer works for a long time. I'd love to beta for someone too.

5. I'd never hate fanart of my work!

6. Maybe a good rec-list of Star Wars fics and some good, non-fighting SW fansites if there are any.

7. Links to gorgeous STONY, STUCKY and Romanogers fanart. Any rating is good.

8. For fandom, I'd like to see more people in it for love of the fandom itself and not simply for Kudos and comments and high numbers.

9. Acceptance of any and all genres in fanfiction... by that I mean no kink shaming, no pairing shaming, none of that stuff. We like what we like and that's okay.

10. Peace on earth - something I wish for us all every single day!

Challenge #4

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

This year is starting different for me. I have a huge health challenge before me and am not sure what my long term goals are anymore.

Common goals is to lose the 25 pounds I've gained back from stress. I need the weight off and it makes me feel like crap. Also other reasons.

Writing goal is 250,000 words this as per Get Your Words Out - It's my third year there and I'm really liking the motivation and inspiration to write.

Can't think of any others right now.

Challenge #2

In your own space, talk about your fannish history. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I got on the internet in the late 90s. I had never heard of fanfiction, fandoms or anything even close to that. I had heard of Trekkies – but then everyone had. My daughter got caught up in the CATS craze after the DVD came out in the late 90s and I sort of did too. After joining a couple of message boards and making some friends I moved on to Babylon 5 and I’ve kinda stuck there. I helped run a couple of groups here and there and have never gotten out of that fandom. I run a few of [personal profile] ruuger’s old groups still.

I saw a trailer for The Fellowship of the Rings – and was immediately enthralled. I had read Tolkien back in the 70s’s when I was a teen and couldn’t wait for the movies. I loved them and went hunting for information on Legolas, Aragorn and Boromir. And I found fanfiction, more specifically, slash fanfiction.

I joined a Yahoo group – an rps group I’m thinking and that group was one holy hell mess of fighting and nasty members who lived to put other fans and writers down. I soon left it and made my own group that allowed both RPS and character fiction of any rating and pairings. It was called LOTR Adult Fiction. That group grew into the website, Of Elves and Men, which is being preserved on Ao3.

Chris Evans convinced me that MCU was worth a look and I love writing Steve/Tony but I love the whole fandom.

And the main fandom is Star Wars. I seldom write Star Wars though I dearly love it. I love Classic SW better than the new stuff since Disney bought it. I enjoy the extended universe now forced to be called legends. In a time in my life that I didn’t know if I was going to make it, Star Wars got my through and I will always be thankful to Lucas for that.

And that’s it, I guess.

Challenge #1

In your own space, introduce yourself! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm Alex. I've always been here. I am a fanfiction writer and my fandoms are Tolkien, MCU, Babylon 5, Sherlock Holmes and I dabble in many others. I write anything from gen to explicit, from gen to het and slash. You can see my ;ast year's work listed here: https://alexcat.dreamwidth.org/1199479.html There is so much of it because it's been my refuge from the world and from US politics. I can only stand so much Trump crap.

I don't post a lot of personal posts and I normally friends lock anything personal. I don't have an intro other than the little there is on my profile. I live in rural south of the US. I am not your typical southern redneck, though I do have quite a southern accent.

I am a HUGE star Wars fan though I do admit to preferring the original trilogy and the Legends books. I thought The Rise of Skywalker was a wonderful film, unlike what I thought about the other two. I don't write much Star Wars though that could change.

I have some health challenges and some nasty health things coming up in the near future. I may or may not share much about those things. I don't know yet.

Pleas ask me anything you wanna know... and friend me if you like.
